ENCOUNTERS IN THE RIGHT AND LEFT HEMISPHERES

Scott MacLeay (2020) - 150 pages

Encounters in the Right and Left Hemispheres is a performance-based transmedia project that explores the impact that fortuitous events have on the development of a relationship between two people of different generations, who had barely known each other before - Tássya Karasiak and Scott MacLeay. The project consists of three different interactive supports, each offering a specific perspective on this journey of discovery: a book, an online platform and an exhibition / installation. The project required the creation of a small controlled universe capable of framing the evolution of the interaction between two individuals, a universe in which chance plays a central role. The underlying process was designed to create physical, emotional and psychological encounters of several types, letting destiny define the nature of the relationship, if one actually developed.

This book is nothing more than an elaborate scrapbook, taking the reader through the various stages of development of the relationship. The photographs act as symbolic guides to certain specific sensations and events. The QR code links provide cellphone access to extracts of a selection of videos of the actual encounters permitting the reader to experience the sensations as they were created.
